Quello andato in scena domenica sera dal Madison Square Garden di New York per l' assegnazione dei 60° Grammy Awards è stato uno degli spettacoli più platealmente politici che palinsesto generalista ricordi (in Usa la cerimonia la trasmette la rete Nbc). Sul tappeto rosso le donne si sono presentate con una rosa bianca, simbolo di adesione al movimento Time' s Up contro le molestie sessuali sul posto di lavoro.

Dentro si è proseguito con uno show che ha mischiato in un unico sentire diritti delle donne e posizioni anti Trump.

 

Ai primi ci ha pensato l' esibizione di Kesha, tutta vestita di bianco e accompagnata da Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Andra Day e Julia Michaels. Ha cantato Praying , dall' album Rainbow , uscito ad agosto dopo quattro anni di silenzio dovuti alla causa intentata contro il suo ex mentore, il produttore Dr Luke, da lei accusato di stupro e violenza psicologica, che ne ha fatto la paladina del #metoo quando ancora il #metoo non esisteva (Dr Luke ha sempre negato le accuse).

Prima degli U2 ci avevano pensato altri ad attaccare il Presidente: Dave Chapelle, Trevor Noah, Sarah Silverman, ma soprattutto la gag registrata: John Legend, Cher, Snoop Dogg, Cardi B che leggono brani dal libro Fire and Fury di Michael Wolff, con apparizione a sorpresa di Hillary Clinton. La scenetta ha provocato immediate reazioni. L' ambasciatore Usa presso le Nazioni Unite, Nikki Haley, ha scritto su Twitter: «Ho sempre amato i Grammy, ma far leggere agli artisti brani di Fire and Fury è come mischiare la musica con la spazzatura».

 

Un mondo tutto maschile

A tanto ardore politico non è però corrisposto altrettanto impegno nella scelta dei vincitori. Di Bruno Mars, trionfatore della serata con sei premi tra cui i due più importanti, Record of the Year e Album of the Year per 24k Magic , tutto si può dire tranne che sia rappresentativo di impegno politico e militanza.

Il fatto poi che abbia battuto Jay-Z e Kendrick Lamar (che comunque ha avuto cinque premi) la dice lunga sul tipo di schizofrenia che sembra popolare il mondo dell' intrattenimento.

Mentre in televisione andavano in onda le commoventi immagini di Kesha, qualcuno in Rete lanciava l' hashtag #GrammySoMale ovvero i Grammy tutti maschili facendo notare come l' unica donna premiata alla fine fosse Alessia Cara, vincitrice come Best New Artist.

 

Se i numeri di Hollywood sono bassi - solo 3% di donne registe - quelli della musica lo sono ancora di più: la percentuale di donne cantautrici è 12%, mentre quella di donne produttrici è solo del 2%. Delle 899 persone candidate ai premi negli ultimi sei anni, solo il 9% sono donne.

 

Quest' anno Lorde era l' unica donna candidata a un premio maggiore. Non solo non ha vinto, ma non è stata neanche invitata a esibirsi. Su Variety, il Presidente della Recording Academy Neil Portnov ha risposto: «Sta alle donne farsi avanti. Saranno le benvenute».
